May Meet In Mutual, Park Centre, Baxter Park, Dundee
Exhibition of site-responsive sculptural and performance work by Sogol Mabadi, Emma Reid & Craig Thomson. August 2014.
As an investigation into site-responsive practice, Sogol Mabadi, Emma Reid & Craig Thomson were invited to develop new work for the Park Centre in Baxter Park, Dundee. The project took inspiration from the Park Centre itself, acknowledging its social function by opening up the exhibition process itself through an Open Install on the Friday 29 August as the artists finalised the installation of works.
In the lead up to the exhibition the MMIM Micro Residency brought six Scottish-based artists to the site to research and make new works, these artists were invited to share their works at Open Stage which took place during the Preview of May Meet In Mutual.
Other events during the exhibition included Conversation Over Coffee, a relaxed discussion event co-ordinated with invited speakers, Annie Crabtree and Beth Savage alongside the artists and visitors to navigate the potentials and complexities of site responsive artistic/curatorial practice and what it might mean to work in this way today.
