Ongoing projects with My Bookcase
Reading an exhibition together, 28 October 2017 – 18 February 2018
Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art One, Resource Room, in response to NOW: Michael Armitage, Yto Barrada, Kate Davis, Susan Philipsz, Hiwa K, Sarah Rose
NOW brings together the work of six artists and their approach to the themes of storytelling, communication, memory, love and loss. As a part of the exhibition, My Bookcase invite visitors to take part in a growing conversation about the themes of the artworks, and the ideas on display. In Phase 1, visitors were invited to recommend a book in response to the exhibition, the collaborative list is here.
For Phase 2, My Bookcase installed a Big Thought Book and the shared journals in the Resource Room.
Can we tell the story of an exhibition together? shared journals bring multiple voices to a communal reading of the exhibition and enable a conversation through the page between present, past and future visitors.

My Bookcase @ The House That Heals The Soul
My Bookcase took part in this group exhibition focusing on the practice of publishing, and the political and social status of the Library. Programmed in collaboration with artist Nick Thurston, CCA’s exhibition spaces were opened up to house a selection of library and self-publishing resources and artworks, looking at the radical potential of library collections and collecting. For more information about the exhibition and events series see here.
